Urban Farmers Almanac

A variety show about raising food and living earthy in the city

Updated Feb. 10 2018

Dan Chouinard is host of this new show where guests bring songs, stories and first-hand how-to: rooftop beekeepers to basement cheesemakers, bicycling bakers to vacant lot farmers. Plus lots of history and lore and music including an all-star band. A fresh local take on a growing global movement.

The Urban Farmer’s Almanac has been staged six times to date: three in May 2016 at the Ritz Theater in Northeast Minneapolis (part of Theater Latté Da’s NEXT festival for new works), and three in August 2017 at Open Eye Theater in South Minneapolis. The shows previously scheduled for the Capri Theater this March have been postponed while the search for fiscal support continues.

Meanwhile: Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Community will host a show Sunday evening April 29, 2018. Guests confirmed so far include: food writer Beth Dooley; (Mpls. restaurant) Gandhi Mahal owner Ruhel Islam; artist and Frogtown Farm co-founder Seitu Jones. More details soon, here and on the UFA Facebook page.
