Free monthly gatherings in the Twin Cities
MINNEAPOLIS: FIRST MONDAY at the Danish American Center, 3030 W. River Parkway (i.e. just on the Minneapolis end of the Lake St. Bridge). Always a Scandinavian tune or two and plenty of time for requests. 7pm, free and open to all.
MINNEAPOLIS: THIRD TUESDAY at the Loring Community Arts Center (the SE corner of Loring Park, just south of the dandelion fountain). Third Tuesdays generally, 7pm, check Dan’s calendar for upcoming dates. A highly casual and borderline anarchic affair, with mostly older songs (1960s and before), and potluck refreshments somewhat more recent. Sign up for alerts via Facebook.
SAINT ANTHONY PARK: THIRD MONDAY at the Luther Seminary Olson Student Center (490 Fulham) with co-host Ann Reed. Third Mondays generally, 7pm, check Dan’s calendar for dates. Always full, come early. The adjoining cafe stays open with coffee, tea and desserts. Sign up for alerts via Facebook.
PIANO BAR: Forepaugh’s Restaurant in St. Paul closed its doors in March 2019, bringing to an end the lively Wednesday night all-request sing-along piano bar (made possible by Post-It® notes, below). The search continues for a new location, hoping to be settled someplace by fall.
