Civil War Homecoming

A view from Minnesota on the war and its aftermath; Dan Chouinard, author, host and musical director

To mark the 150th anniversary of the end of the U.S. Civil War, Dan Chouinard leads a team of all-star musicians, storytellers and authors in a commemorative show at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, March 28, 2015. Using songs, stories, letters and newspaper accounts, they explore how Minnesota endured the war, grieved over the loss of Lincoln and confronted their changing world.

Civil War Homecoming features Kevin Kling, Maria Jette, T. Mychael Rambo, Prudence Johnson, members of the Roe Family Singers, the Brass Messengers, authors Annette Atkins and Gwen Westerman and more. A production of the Minnesota Historical Society, the Minnesota Civil War Commemoration Task Force, and Minnesota Public Radio, it was broadcast in its entirety by MPR and by Twin Cities Public Television.
